If you’re a British expat wife who hasn’t paid any National Insurance contributions, and was hoping to make use of your husband’s State pension perks, you need to catch up with those payments ASAP. The UK government is now scrapping the Married Man’s Allowance due to cost-cutting measures. The move is also coming about because of the large number of men taking foreign brides, who have been able to claim pensions for their spouses, even if they haven’t set foot on British soil.
